During the Centennial celebrations in 1990, a series of six leaded stained glass windows were added to the sanctuary.
The windows surround the people in the pews with the sweep of the Christian year. There is a major and a minor theme in each window. The upper two-thirds of each window represents one of the seasons of the Christian year -- beginning with Advent in the northwest and proceeding clockwise to Pentecost. The minor theme in the lower portion of each window represents one of the "I am . . . " statements of Christ in the Gospel of John. They act to highlight important features of the season they underscore. The only variation in the minor theme is in the Pentecost window, where the symbol of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) denomination is displayed. The intent of the windows points to our belief that the Holy Spirit is still being poured out on the modern church.

The windows were designed, fabricated, and installed by John Kebrle of Dallas, who joined his father's studio (established in 1920) in 1948 and served as president of the Stained Glass Association of America from 1980-1982. He has worked with many churches, including the restoration and installation of windows at NorthPark Presbyterian Church of Dallas, but his global reputation comes from his windows at Hard Rock Cafe facilities around the world. |
