|
The Hymn of Praise was written by Mendelssohn in 1840 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the printing press. It is known by its German name Lobegesang and is his second symphony. The cantata is the choral and solo music taken from the symphonic movements for these worship services. The texts are centered on the praise and worship of God, being derived from the Psalms and other scripture texts. As these events are worship services, they are free and the public is invited. |
